if i have oily skin, is it okay to use moisturiser? i heard that it
may make yuor race oilier if your face is already oily and you use
moisturiser. is it true? if it is ok to use moisturiser, then are
there any types which are more suitable for those with oily skin? what
brands are there?
Before we get into “infomercial” territory with tons of people trying
to sell their “natural” products, I would just like to say what has
worked for me for the last year.
I don’t consider anything “working” until it works for an EXTENDED
period of time. What I’ve been doing/using has worked for almost a year.
1) I use only Bare Escentuals (Bare Minerals ID) makeup. For the last
year, it’s the ONLY thing that hasn’t broken me out. Plus, I have
rosacea. It covers it! (Just make sure you get the concealer brush to
use for areas with rosacea or acne.)
2) When I moisturize, I use only LacHydrin (over-the-counter version).
You don’t need to moisturize everyday! Only use it when you notice
dryness. Also, only use an amount the size of a pea. The cost ratio
for the bottle is unbeatable! A bottle may last you about a year!
3) When I get do get acne, I use a hot washcloth for 10-20 minutes
(morning and night) and then coat the area with castor oil. I never
get new zits after doing this. The only reason I don’t do it all the
time is because I like to wear makeup and get near my boyfriend
without castor oil on my face. This technique cost little to zero
dollars. A regular bottle of castor oil should last you about 6
months. It costs only about $2 in the pharmacy!!!
Try these things. They cost very little money (except the makeup).
Let me know how it works out.
Acne.org has a regimen for acne. I tried it out for 3 weeks using their benzoyl peroxide acne gel. The site advocates a large amount of
benzoyl peroxide, and for 3 weeks, I used a large amount on my face every night. I got paranoid of how much BP I was using and quit after
3 weeks. But now, one month after I quit, my face has become insanely oily. It shines excessively and when I touch it, my hand gets all oily
too. It was never like this. Did the BP adversely affect my skin? I’m very scared now that the BP ruined my skin permanently. Will it ever
go back to the matte appearance it was before?
On my lunch hour I try to walk. This is possible because I’ve been eating my healthy foods all morning leaving me time to get exercise. If I have a business meeting or go out with friends for lunch, I try to stick to the vegetable tray and 1/2 sandwich. I pick a sandwich that I know is healthy such as a vegetarian one. If I have a choice I make sure there is no butter or margarine on it or mayonaisse. I stay away from the dessert tray. If I took just one I know I’d be right back at all the bad things again. I really thought I would miss this stuff but I don’t. And I
feel so much better than I have in years.
My panic attacks aren’t really under control I don’t think. I have tried medication for them but will not do that anymore. It takes too much of my energy away and makes me so tired I can’t function. I actually did ok while my son was at his worst. I was too busy taking care of him that I had no time to think of myself. My youngest son was kinda forgotten about at times but was so wonderful about it all.
My son’s remission is good for now. He is just trying to overcome the emotions and a few slight effects. He is just so tried of being weird as
he puts it. It just warms my heart on his good days though. There are more and more of those now too.
